About This Event / イベントについて
The Akihabara Radio Kaikan — the 10-floor hobby and anime goods building that is arguably the single most recognizable landmark in Akihabara — is taken over by Steins;Gate RE:BOOT. from July 20 to August 31, 2026. For six weeks the entire building is wrapped in Steins;Gate characters and illustration, turning a visit to Radio Kaikan into a themed experience.
Radio Kaikan is the building that anchored Akihabara's transformation from an electronics district into an otaku destination. After its 2014 rebuild it reopened as a modern 10-floor complex housing figure shops (AmiAmi, Volks Hobby Square), used-goods stores (Lashinbang, Jungle), card shops, and the Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby Tokyo. Steins;Gate itself is famously set in Akihabara and features the Radio Kaikan building in its story, which makes this collaboration unusually site-specific — the show's world and the real building overlap.
12th-anniversary ceremony
The collaboration opens on July 20 with a CELEBRATION OF 12th ANNIVERSARY rooftop event, marking 12 years since the rebuilt Radio Kaikan opened. The ceremony starts at 16:00 on the rooftop (doors 15:30) with voice actress and singer Momoi Haruko as guest. Because high turnout is expected, numbered tickets are distributed from 12:00 at the 10F east-side outdoor stairs on the day — there is no advance booking for the ceremony itself.
Momoi Haruko is a natural fit for an Akihabara event: she is a veteran anison artist who has performed extensively in the district, and her fanbase overlaps heavily with the Steins;Gate and Radio Kaikan audience. The rooftop ceremony is the official kick-off, but the building decoration and themed shopping bonuses continue for the full six weeks.
Special event and kuji lottery
From August 29 to 30 a special event runs at the 1F entrance space, with Steins;Gate RE:BOOT. content timed to the release of the game. The entrance space is the building's most visible location, facing Chuo-dori, so the event is effectively public-facing — you can see it from the street.
From August 21 to 30 the Kuji-la! Great Lottery runs on the 10F event space. Every 3,000 yen (tax included) of receipts from participating Radio Kaikan shops earns one lottery draw, and receipts can be combined across stores. Prizes are Steins;Gate RE:BOOT. goods that are exclusive to this event. Lottery ticket distribution runs August 21–30, with the actual draws on August 29–30 (10:30–18:30 both days).
Why Radio Kaikan matters
For visitors planning a single stop in Akihabara, Radio Kaikan is usually the recommendation — it is the densest concentration of anime, figure, card, and hobby retail in the district under one roof, and the building's central location (a one-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station Electric Town exit) makes it the easiest anchor for a walking route. During this Steins;Gate takeover, the building doubles as both a shopping destination and a themed photo location, with the character decoration extending across the floors.
The collaboration runs through August 31, which means it overlaps with Comic Market 108 (August 15–16 at Tokyo Big Sight) and the broader Akihabara summer season. Pairing a Radio Kaikan visit with the nearby Steins;Gate 15th Anniversary Exhibition at AKIBA_SQUARE (running through August 2) gives Steins;Gate fans a complete Akihabara circuit: the exhibition at UDX for the immersive lab recreation, and Radio Kaikan for the themed shopping and anniversary celebration.
