The Summer Akihabara Electric Town Festival 2026 runs for 31 days from June 26 to July 26, transforming Chuo-dori and its side streets into a celebration of otaku culture. This year the festival has partnered with Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World, the popular isekai anime whose fourth season is currently airing. The collaboration brings exclusive merchandise, a lucky draw campaign, and character displays across participating stores.

Organised by the Akihabara Electric Town Promotion Association, the festival covers the entire Electric Town district from the JR Akihabara Station exits to Suehirocho and Kanda areas. Over 100 shops participate, from major electronics retailers like Yodobashi Akiba to small anime figure specialists tucked into Radio Kaikan. The Re:Zero tie-in is the headline attraction, but the festival also functions as a broader summer shopping campaign with tax-free deals and seasonal promotions.

The Re:Zero Lucky Draw and Prizes

The core mechanic is a lucky draw (kuji) available at participating stores. Spend 3,000 yen or more including tax at any participating shop and you receive one draw ticket. The top prize goes to 100 winners who each receive a 10,000 yen shopping voucher usable across Akihabara. A second tier of 1,000 winners gets 3,000 yen vouchers. Another 500 winners receive an exclusive Re:Zero original poster.

Every single person who enters the draw, all 40,000 planned participants, receives a Re:Zero original uchiwa (paper fan) as a participation prize. The fan features newly drawn artwork of Subaru, Emilia, and Rem in summer festival attire. There is also a separate X (formerly Twitter) campaign where 10 winners receive a special Central Road flag signed by the Akihabara Electric Town Promotion Association, and 3 winners get posters autographed by voice actors Yusuke Kobayashi (Subaru) and Rie Takahashi (Emilia).

Miss Akihabara 2026 Store Tour

On June 27, the day after opening, Miss Akihabara 2026 winner Miyu Otose tours participating stores for a promotional walk. Otose, who won the 2026 pageant, visits major shops along Chuo-dori including Animate Akihabara, Gamers, and Kotobukiya. The tour starts at 11:00 AM and follows a route announced on the festival campaign site. Fans can take photos at each stop, though autograph sessions are limited to ticketed holders.

The festival also highlights recommended new electronics from participating stores. Yodobashi Akiba features summer deals on cameras, laptops, and gaming hardware, while smaller specialist shops in the Radio Center under the railway tracks offer vintage components and retro gaming bundles. Tax-free shopping is available at most major stores for visitors spending over 5,000 yen with a passport.
