An eight-day character goods pop-up timed to the Slow Ahead Season 2 anime
The Azur Lane Slow Ahead pop-up store opens at AKIHABARA Gamers Honten on July 18, 2026 and runs for eight days through July 26. It is timed to ride the second-season broadcast of the Azur Lane Slow Ahead anime, which premiered on Tokyo MX and BS11 in early July, and the store will be the only physical retail location for the new "hero" and "April Fools" illustration goods in Tokyo during that window.
The pop-up is small but tightly themed. The featured characters are Javelin, Ayanami, Laffey, Z23, Dido, Golden Hind, New Jersey, and Shinano, all rendered in two visual modes. The hero set dresses them in fantasy-RPG protagonist outfits, while the April Fools set gives the same cast more playful comedic styling. Both are new illustrations commissioned specifically for this event.
What is on the shelves
The lineup is built around a few hero pieces. Deca acrylic stands for each character cost 2,420 yen each, and the hero-ver Javelin, Ayanami, Laffey, and Z23 versions are likely to be the first to sell out. Mini acrylic art pieces come in two versions (hero and April Fools) at 3,190 yen each, and a hologram can badge set retails blind at 715 yen per pull. The hologram card set runs 660 yen per random card.
The bigger ticket items are the rubber desk mats, at 4,400 yen for the April Fools version, which are sized for actual desk use rather than display. For collectors chasing specific characters, the recommendation is to hit the store on day one, since character-locked acrylic stands tend to clear out in the first weekend.
How this fits the broader Azur Lane summer calendar
This Slow Ahead pop-up is the first of two Azur Lane retail events in Akihabara this summer. A separate Summer Fair 2026 pop-up, organised by MAGES. and running July 31 to August 16, will take over both Ami Ami Radio Kaikan and AKIHABARA Gamers Honten with swimsuit-themed goods. The two events share AKIHABARA Gamers as a venue, so visitors planning around the late-July window can expect the Slow Ahead pop-up to clear out on July 26 and the Summer Fair setup to begin within days.
AKIHABARA Gamers Honten sits a short walk from Akihabara Station's Electric Town exit, on the corner of Chuo-dori. The store opens daily, and the pop-up will run during regular store hours. Entry is free, and there is no admission fee or ticket required to browse the goods.
