Historic Shinto shrine above Akihabara, blessing everything from businesses to electronic gadgets.

Kanda Myojin Otoko-zaka refers to the famous stone approach and grounds of Kanda Shrine, a historic Shinto shrine in Sotokanda, about a seven-minute walk from Akihabara Station.

Originally founded in 730 and moved to its present site in 1616, the shrine was patronised by shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and now serves as the guardian of 108 local town councils including Akihabara, Otemachi and Nihombashi. Its proximity to Electric Town has made it a popular spot for blessing electronic goods, and it is also a pilgrimage site for anime fans thanks to its Love Live connections.

Whether you are seeking a talisman for your phone or a quiet moment above the city, this storied shrine is an essential Akihabara stop.
