Pocket Change is a convenient automated service found in the Akihabara Station passageway near the Taito Station entrance. It lets travellers exchange unwanted coins and small banknotes for electronic money, shopping vouchers or charity donations.

Using the machine is straightforward: pour in your remaining yen, choose an option on the touchscreen, and receive a credit code or voucher. It is ideal at the end of a trip when loose change would otherwise go unused.

There is usually a small service fee, and not every e-money brand is supported, so read the on-screen instructions before committing. English guidance is often available on the display.
