Sazareishi at Akihabara, Tokyo

Sazareishi is a stone monument within the grounds of Kanda Shrine at 2-16-2 Sotokanda in Chiyoda, near the Akihabara area. The name references the sazare-ishi, the pebbles that fuse together over time into a single boulder, referenced in Japan's national anthem Kimi ga Yo as a symbol of endurance and long life. The stone sits among the shrine's many commemorative monuments along the rear approach path.

Kanda Myojin, one of Tokyo's oldest shrines, enshrines deities including two of the Seven Lucky Gods and is the guardian of 108 town councils across Kanda, Nihombashi, Akihabara and Marunouchi. The shrine is free to enter and a seven-minute walk from Akihabara Station.
