About This Event / イベントについて
Kanda Myojin — a short walk from Akihabara — is one of Tokyo's most historic shrines and the traditional guardian shrine of the Kanda and Akihabara neighborhoods. For hatsumode, the first shrine visit of the New Year, it draws thousands over January 1–3.
The shrine is famous for blessing local tech businesses and electronics dealers — a uniquely Akihabara touch — so alongside the traditional prayers for good fortune you'll find IT workers and shop owners praying for a prosperous year. Food stalls (yatai), amulets (omamori) and sacred sake are on offer, and the shrine is open around the clock for the first three days.

Go early on January 1 (before 6:00 AM) or on January 2–3 to avoid peak crowds.
